With its lyrics about Australian ex-pats, beer, and vegemite sandwiches you couldn't get a more Aussie pop song than Men at Work's 1981 hit "Down Under," could you? Less well known, however, is that the song was co-written and sung by an Ayrshire expat, Colin Hay who was born in Saltcoats in 1953 and only came to Australia in 1967, only fourteen years before writing and performing the hit song.
